About Us: SONE COMO CACA was formed as a 2 piece band in 2002 with Randy Serrano on drums and vocals and Ken Jensen on guitar. This union was the start of a great party band. Ken came up with the name of the band, SONE COMO CACA, which loosely translated means "sounds like shit." This name set the tone for the FUN that this band was all about - they were definitely ready to have fun. Ken and Randy played together regularly at Randy's house in Fremont, which we all know as the "Fremont Cabo Wabo". The FCW became the main venue for most of SONE's live shows. SONE COMO CACA built a steady following of rabid fans and in 2003 the band added a bass player, Tony. With the addition of a bass player, the band was complete. They worked on their sound and continued to rock the masses. SONE is a classic rock cover band that loves the music of Van Halen. They do not discriminate against the battle between Sam or Dave but instead play songs by Van Halen, Van Hagar, Montrose and solo Sammy Hagar along with some other classic rock artists.
The band was having a blast playing many house parties at the FCW in 2003 and then Tony hooked up with one of the fans and bowed out of the band. Down but not out, the founding members of SONE COMO CACA forged ahead. They placed ads and auditioned bass players. After many failed attempts, (remember Lurch?) and just about to give up, Dan Handa came to a FCW gig, sat in on a few songs and never left.
In October 2005, the band enjoyed 2 sold out nights at the world famous Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas. In order to get Randy as the front man on vocals, a drummer was needed for the Cabo shows. Terry Morton of Vigilance stepped in a helped out. With Dan not able to make the trip, SONE COMO CACA rocked the house with special guest Vic Johnson on bass and Kelly Bellard added some fun to the set singing the Y&T classics. After the successful 2005 Cabo Wabo shows, SONE COMO CACA played the Hard Rock Cafe in SF for the 8th annual REDHEAD Christmas Party.
The summer 2006 tour began with a pool party at Deb and Sean's in Livermore. This was the warm up for SONE's biggest show to date . . . BONE BASH 7.5 on August 4th, 2006. With the band still wanting Randy as the front man, SONE enlisted drummer Rick Sanchez of Invicta and SONE played the side stage, opening for Tesla and Sammy Hagar at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mt View. Kelly Bellard was there to rock the Y & T songs. After the success of the Bone Bash, the band dropped the COMO CACA from the name and are referred to by most as just SONE. The band realized that a full time drummer was needed if Randy was going to continue to be the front man. In 2006 Ken's brother, Rick Jensen, jumped in as the new drummer for SONE. His first show was the hugely successful 9th annual REDHEAD Christmas Party at the Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco, CA. In 2006 also came some very sad news, the FCW would be closing it's doors for good. The one and only Fremont Cabo Wabo party house will always be a huge part of where SONE came from. The FCW will be truly missed.
In February 2007 SONE played two house parties, Dave's PJ party in Fremont and Rosy's house in Sacramento for her daughter Judy's 18th birthday. Also in 2007, Dan decided to move forward with his new project, Band Turissmo, and SONE invited our original bass player, Tony, back into the band. With the FCW closed, the SONE shows in 2007 were very limited. SONE played an awesome Halloween party in Tracy at Curt & Julie Zacannini's house and are set to end the year with two HUGE shows. The 10th annual REDHEAD Christmas party at Saylor's in Sausalito on Saturday, December 1st and opening for Bret Michaels at The Saddle Rack in Fremont on Sunday, December 2nd.
I have been here from the start, have been to every SONE show there ever was. With all the changes this band has made I think they are now stronger than ever and ready to take on the world or maybe just your local bar?
I cannot wait to see what 2008 brings! Thanks so much to all the great SONE fans for all of your support over the years. We would not have continued on if not for your love and encouragement!
